Swarm, swarm!
EAP China! Robert Klein.

The mongolians raced our bus for awhile, then they got bored.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Here sisi drinks the Baijiu (remember that "milk beer" I mentioned earlier?) we're all given as we get off the bus.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

This guy is awesome.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Ah, nature. Horses, dirt, and Sony Clies.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Sisi relaxes after finally getting off the bus.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

This area is covered in windmills. A friend of mine asked the locals if they get any revenue from it. They said no, it all goes to the capital.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Ahh, welcome to tourist country.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

This is how today's Chinese Mongolians live, in brick hovels (this are some of the nicest ones, many look abandoned but in fact are residences).
EAP China! Robert Klein.

I believe is apparatus is used for coal, one way or the other. It sure looks like an aquaduct to nowhere to my eye, though.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

This reads "Jing Hu Gao Su", or the Beijing-Hohhot Expresway.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Check out the billingual gas station. The restroom (the field behind the wall), though, is nothing to write home about.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

I apparently missed some very pretty country, because this is where I woke up after a couple hours' nap.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

More mountain scenery.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

As the Chinese like to put it, a nice "scenery." This grammar mistake, by the way, springs from the fact that the Chinese word "Jing Feng" can be used to describe any given sight.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

A rest stop on the Huhhot-Beijing espressway.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

They've got planes. This is their airport. I'm seriously afraid that may be their control tower.

EAP China! Robert Klein.

Houhhot's transportation network is diverse, they've got trains...
EAP China! Robert Klein.

While this building may look less pleasant, it's situated next to a giant man-made lake. Did I mention the provincial government got repremanded for corruption shortly after we got back?
EAP China! Robert Klein.

A houhhot city government building. Not too shabby.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Milk beer! Everyone's favorite! In case your wondering if this is a mistranslation, it's not. It's really milk alcohol. Traditionally, it's fermented mare's milk. Yes, fermented mare's milk.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Oh grow up!
EAP China! Robert Klein.

He bought the shirt because he thought it meant that he loved "man balls," but apparently it may mean Tibetan soccer.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Well that's it for Baotou. Back to Houhhot! They're building a Super 8 here, apparently.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Quite a good view at night, looking west toward the heart of Baotou.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Home for a night. Best place in town, by far.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

And the last shot of the gorge, from here it's off to our hotel in BaoTou, the great coal slumopolis.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

The last trestle-shot. Forgive me.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Jessica luuuves the little camel she bought. Little does she know we're all getting one free at tonight's dinner.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Why do I get the feeling that trash is destined for somewhere in the distance thataway.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

Though, this is included mainly because I find it absolutely bizzare. Cashmere, by the way, is from Mongolia (Inner and Outer-e.g. the nation of Mongolia).
EAP China! Robert Klein.

This, and the next few pictures, are mostly just beautiful, rather than people-focused.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

The cars get pretty close to the river at their lowest, I wonder if in big floods they could actually reach up to pushed down safety bars.
EAP China! Robert Klein.

The descent is a little distressing, even though you've already done the same thing on the other side.
