We went to one of my favorite restaurants near campus, Jia Chang Cai (homestyle cooking) in the area south of Lanhui, the neighborhood called MingGuangCun. While I'd always enjoyed their regular dishes, they apparently specialize in soups, like this delicious (though bony) fish stew. In China, the price of soups is often initially off-putting, since it's often at least twice as much as other dishes. But it's usually quite large and therefore even a miser like myself can understand it's well worth the money (for this we paid about 4 US dollars).
