In Beijing many signs are in Chinese and English...but here the secondary language is Mongolian. We're heading on to the Hohhot-Baotou expressway, linking Inner Mongolia's two main cities, its fairly pleasant capital and the dust-strewn streets of the coal-mining megalopolis of Baotou (which is where we'll spend the night at the far western end of town).
